A New Boat, a Viral Dolphin Moment, and Miami Swim Week: Saraboca Wave Co. in May 2026

May 2026 was one for the books. Saraboca Wave Co. picked up a new Heyday H22, went viral with a dolphin encounter that hit ESPN, and took the boat to Miami Swim Week.

May was a lot. In the best possible way.

Selling the Varatti and Finding the Right Boat

The month started with me driving the Varatti up north to sell. On the way back I was supposed to pick up a replacement boat, but when the owner called to let me know a cat had gotten in and scratched up all the flooring, I took that as a sign and walked away from the deal.

Two weeks of searching followed. I even made a work trip out to California in the middle of it, squeezed in some skimming and surfing while I was there, and came back with a lead on a boat in Georgia that checked every box.

My new Heyday H22 Coastal Edition. Loaded with lighting, upgraded audio, the latest technology, and even a heater upgrade. I flew back to Florida, made a quick trip up to Georgia to pick it up, slapped some Saraboca stickers on the side, and headed straight to H2O Fest.

Maiden Voyage at H2O Fest

The first official run with the new boat was a big one. I brought a crew of friends out to H2O Fest and through one of them, Zain, who has a close connection with one of the main sponsors, the whole group ended up with VIP backstage access for the day.

It was hectic and loud and exactly the kind of maiden voyage a boat like that deserves.

The Dolphin That Knocked Skylar Off Her Board

Shortly after H2O Fest we took the Heyday out for its first real surf session near the El Jobean Bridge. The wake this boat creates is incredible and completely customizable, which made for some great riding right out of the gate.

Skylar Callahan was behind the boat when she fell and I spotted a group of dolphins closing in fast from behind. I gave her a choice. Hop in the boat and film them surfing the wake, or stay in the water and surf alongside them.

She said she wanted to surf with them.

About twenty seconds in, one of the dolphins knocked directly into Skylar and she ended up landing on top of it. We got the whole thing on video.

Wink News picked it up. Then ESPN ran it. Across all the platforms the videos have cleared ten million views combined.

Skylar was completely fine and laughed the whole thing off. Honestly the dolphin looked just as surprised as everyone else.

That's the thing about wakesurfing in Southwest Florida. The wildlife doesn't care that you're out there, and sometimes they join the session whether you planned for it or not.

Miami Swim Week with Dubs Swim

To close out the month I headed down to Miami Swim Week to walk in my signature board shorts for Dubs Swim. I brought the boat down so that the Dubs models and I could get a session in on the water near the Miami skyline.

If you want to check out the board shorts, you can find them at dubsswim.com.

It was a great weekend and a fitting way to end one of the most eventful months since launching Saraboca Wave Co.

If you want to get on the water in Englewood, Venice, Sarasota, or Boca Grande, Saturday Sessions run every week from 9 AM to 1 PM for $150. No experience needed.

See you out there. Saraboca Wave Co. — Bringing the Waves to You
