One boat, one departure, your group

Most sunset trips on this coast put you on a big pontoon with twenty strangers and a loudspeaker. This is the other thing. One booking takes the whole boat, the only people aboard are the ones you brought, and the route gets built around what you want to see rather than a timetable.

Captain ET runs one sunset departure an evening. When you book a date, that evening is yours.

What time do we leave?

That depends entirely on the date, because sunset in Englewood moves by more than two and a half hours across the year. Rather than guess, the booking page works it out from the real sunset time: back at the dock fifteen minutes after the sun is down, ninety minutes on the water, so departure sits about an hour and fifteen before.

Roughly where it lands, month by month:

January4:45pm
February5:05pm
March6:25pm
April6:40pm
May6:55pm
June7:10pm
July7:10pm
August6:55pm
September6:20pm
October5:50pm
November4:25pm

Pick your date on the booking page and it shows the exact minute. Captain ET confirms it by text.

Where the boat goes

Out of the ramp on S McCall Rd, down Lemon Bay past the mangroves, then through Stump Pass into the Gulf for the last of the light. Dolphins are out most evenings and often come to the boat on the way back in.

If the Gulf is too choppy, we watch the sunset from inside Stump Pass. The current keeps the waves from breaking in there, so it stays calm and you still get the sun going down over open horizon. It is also where you have a shot at a green flash, the moment the last sliver of sun turns green as it drops. He makes that call on the day and tells you why.

Bring a bottle

There is a cooler aboard and ice in it. Bring beer, wine, whatever you want, 21 and over for the alcohol. Bluetooth stereo, so bring your playlist too. Captain ET stays dry, he is driving.

Some people book it for an anniversary, a birthday or a proposal. Tell him what the evening is for and he will plan around it, including where to be when the light goes.

Questions people ask

It moves all year, because sunset does. Captain ET works back from the real sunset time for your date: the boat is at the dock fifteen minutes after the sun goes down, and the trip runs ninety minutes, so departure lands about an hour and fifteen before sunset. In December that means leaving around 4:25pm. In June it is closer to 7:10pm. The booking page shows the exact time for whichever date you pick, and Captain ET confirms it by text.
$250 for ninety minutes, and that is the whole boat, not per person. Up to six guests. Fuel, the captain and ice water are in the price. One departure per evening, so the date is yours once it is booked.
Yes. Bring whatever you want, beer, wine, a bottle of something. There is a cooler aboard and ice. Guests 21 and over only for alcohol, and Captain ET stays dry because he is driving.
Out of Englewood, down Lemon Bay and through Stump Pass into the Gulf, then along the beach for the last of the light. If the Gulf is too choppy we watch the sunset from inside Stump Pass instead, where the current keeps the waves from breaking and you still get the sun over open horizon, with a chance of a green flash.
Some people book it for exactly that. Tell Captain ET what the evening is for when you book and he will work around it, including where to be when the light goes.
Safety first. If Captain ET calls it for weather you reschedule or take a full refund, your choice. Light cloud often makes the better sunset, so he will not cancel for that.
This one runs out of Englewood. Wakesurf is the only charter Captain ET trailers out of the area.

The rest of what we run

Same boat, same captain, different evening. Dolphin and wildlife tours on Lemon Bay, a Day on the Bay with sandbars and lunch on the water, and wakesurf charters with pro instruction. All of it runs out of Englewood, and wakesurf is the one Captain ET trailers up the coast. If you only want one or two seats rather than the whole boat, there are wakesurf lessons on a Saturday Session. Staying on Manasota Key? He picks you up from the dock.
